For each platform we calculate total_minutes = calls × minutes_per_call, then apply the platform's pricing model:

Burki BYO: $0.03/min × minutes + passthrough
Burki Cloud: $0.03/min × minutes + passthrough × 1.15
Vapi: $0.05/min × minutes + passthrough × 1.25
Retell: $0.07/min × minutes + passthrough × 1.25
Bland: $0.09/min × minutes (bundled)

Provider passthrough is estimated at $0.04/min, which is roughly what a typical mid-quality pipeline costs (Twilio + Deepgram Nova + GPT-4o-mini + ElevenLabs Turbo). Your actual passthrough will vary based on the providers and models you choose — Burki shows you exact passthrough on every invoice.

FAQ

Why is Burki so much cheaper at high volume?

Two reasons. First, the platform fee is $0.03/min vs $0.05–$0.09/min on Vapi/Retell/Bland — the gap compounds linearly with volume. Second, Burki's BYO mode passes provider costs through with zero markup, so as your call volume grows, you pay providers their wholesale rate instead of a marked-up bundled rate.

What does 'provider passthrough' include?

Telephony (Twilio/Telnyx/Vonage), STT (Deepgram), LLM (OpenAI/Anthropic/etc.), and TTS (ElevenLabs/Cartesia/etc.). For the calculator we estimate $0.04/min for a typical pipeline. Your real number will vary — picking GPT-4o-mini + Deepgram Nova + Cartesia tends to land closer to $0.025/min; picking GPT-4o + ElevenLabs Multilingual + Twilio toll-free can push to $0.07/min.

Why is Bland's bundled cost lower than Vapi+passthrough at small volumes?

Bland bundles telephony, STT, LLM, and TTS into a single $0.09/min outbound rate. At small volume that's cleaner. The trade is no provider choice — you can't swap to a higher-quality voice or a stronger LLM, even if your use case calls for it. Burki gives you the choice and is still cheaper at scale.

Can I really use my own Twilio key?

Yes. BYO mode is real — you provide your Twilio Account SID + Auth Token, and Burki places calls through your Twilio account. You see Burki only on your monthly invoice for the $0.03/min platform fee. Same for Deepgram, OpenAI, ElevenLabs, etc.
